Monocacy River Aqueduct
With seven 54' spans constructed from white granite from Sugarloaf Mountain 4 miles to the east, this 560' aqueduct is the largest free standing structure on the canal. Completed in 1833 by Irish emigrants to carried canal boats across the Monocacy River. Extensive renovations to the aqueduct was completed in the Winter of 2005/06.

Noland's Ferry
Confederate General Ambrose Powell Hill and his troops crossed this shallow section of the Potomac River in 1862 to join Lee in Frederick during the Antietam Champaign.

Point of Rocks
A land rights dispute with the B&O Railroad delayed the opening of this section of canal until 1833.

Point of Rocks Pivot Bridge
The pier in the middle of the canal is all that is left to the original bridge. The US Park Service built a new bridge which incorporates the pier in 2004.
